Matthew experimented with baking soda and made a Crunchie!

You will need:
- A tray
- A cup
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 4 tablespoons of golden syrup
- Half a cup of sugar
- A pan
- A whisk
- A spatula
- Greasproof paper
Method:
- Measure half a cup of sugar.
- Add the sugar to the pan.
- Put in 4 tbsps of golden syrup.
- Grease the tray and add the paper.
- Stir on heat until simmering.
- Lower the heat and stir for 3 minutes.
- Add in the baking soda.
- Whisk.
- Transfer to the tray – BE WARNED, the mixture expands quickly, so it may overflow.
- Leave to harden.
- Break the Crunchie.
- Eat!
How does it work?
The baking soda reacted to the melted sugar and created a huge foamy froth.
